Question Of The Day

Hello everyone! Some of you whom are reading this are new and some are true followers (no, not twitter. lol) but I welcome you all. For my new readers, I used to send out daily texts that would contain a "Question Of The Day". This is something that I created out of boredom from the workplace. The response that was received was good, but there was only one (1) flaw......I was unable to share everybody's responses with the participants. So, today I have the answer to that problem.

QOTD- Why do you think that 1 out of every 4 people in New York are illiterate? Could we place the blame on the lack of priorities in minority communities? If communication is the most important tool that human beings use , why is it that most people still manage to use improper grammar (even with the assistance of spell check)? smh. Why is it important that the children know who Flavor Flav eliminated this week as opposed to knowing how to spell the word "neighbor"( checkout http://ifundthemental.blogspot.com)? Why is there a bigger emphasis on fashion rather than education? Instead of buying your child a new pair of jordans because school starts next week, how about buying them a dictionary? I suppose it's best that we look good and make other people feel inferior, or maybe we should be attractive so that we can reproduce, or perhaps we don't need to think at all. This situation has become so noticeable to me as of lately that I'm considering no longer purchasing any clothes for the baby showers that I attend in the future (that's right I said it!). I'm buying books, "my baby can read" and "hooked on phonics" from now on. lol. This may be a bit extreme but the message needs to be delivered.

Maybe this problem isn't our fault at all. So many people blame the system (for everything). What if this is the grand scheme? Maybe the best way to keep a culture of people down is to keep them dumb and unable to read (ie. see slavery)? Hundreds of thousands of people died for this right, and we choose not to exercise the ability to do so. What if the system's agenda is to create burdens of society and have these same people boost the economy (ie. see hip-hop cultures ignorance)? Kids know every word to every song on the radio, but couldn't read them if they were on paper! How does "you the fu@k*ng best" make you a better person when the song is finished playing? Will "money to blow" help you economically? There are alot of directions in which I can point my finger, but the problem is much bigger than these three (3) paragraphs. So with this written, please leave a comment, it will be greatly appreciated.
